SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State's Kassi Hormuth scored early in the second half as the Bobcats defeated visiting HBU, 1-0, in an exhibition match Saturday evening from the Bobcat Soccer Complex.

There was no score in the first half, despite Texas State outshooting the Huskies, 8-1. Each team had one shot on goal in the half.

Texas State converted on a corner kick eight minutes into the second half, as Hormuth headed a centering pass from Jourdan Brown. Hormouth tried to score her second goal of the match two minutes later, but Patty Walrath made the save.

The Huskies were awarded a corner kick in the 71st minute, but Bobcat netminder, Caitlynn Rinehart, stopped Natalie Hager's shot.

Texas State outshot the Huskies, 16-7, in the match and had a slim 6-5 advantage in shots on goal. Both goalkeepers, Walrath and Rinehart, made five saves.

Hager and Rebekah Tovar led the Huskies with two shots on goal apiece. Lindsay Matlock had the other shot on goal for HBU.

Hormuth led Texas State with two shots on goal, while Lynsey Curry, Tori Hale, Brenna Smith, and Landry Lowe each had one.

HBU begins the regular season on the road next weekend at UTSA on Friday, Aug. 22 at 7 pm, followed by a 1 pm kick-off at Baylor on Sunday, Aug. 24.
