Anthony Odunsi Signs With Men's Basketball

Former Fort Bend Travis standout transfers home to join Huskies.

Anthony Odunsi has transferred to HBU to join the men's basketball team.
HOUSTON – Anthony Odunsi will join the HBU men's basketball program and is already attending summer classes on campus, after transferring from Albany, Huskies head coach Ron Cottrell announced Wednesday.

"We are thrilled to have a local product transfer home and play for our program," Cottrell said. "Anthony was a highly recruited athlete out of high school, and he will bring a lot of experience at the Division I level to our team."

Odunsi is a 6-4, 220-pound guard from Sugar Land who graduated from Travis High School. He saw action in five games for Albany last season. During his sophomore season at Tyler Junior College, Odunsi averaged 13.3 points, 2.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists per game and 2.2 steals per game. He spent his freshman season at the University of Utah, appearing in 29 games with four starts, averaging 3.0 points and 1.3 rebounds per game.

"Anthony is a big guard who can play multiple backcourt positions," Cottrell said. "He is another young man in this signing class who has established himself as a high academic achiever and should fit in well on our campus, both on and off the court."

As a senior, Odunsi averaged 18.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.1 steals per game in leading Travis to a 34-5 record and the 5A Region III final. He earned all-state honors and was named all-region and all-district for the second-straight year. Odunsi averaged 16.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game a junior and was the district Newcomer of the Year as a freshman. He ranked as the sixth-best player in the Houston area (Houstonpreps.net) and was among the Top 160 players in the nation (HoopsUSA).

He was born on July 17, 1992, in Houston. His mother is Mo Odunsi and he has one sister, Antonia.
