Brianna Brink led the Islanders with 19 kills. Kristyn Nicholson had a match-high of 37 assists, along with 11 digs. Kate Klepetka led TAMU-CC with 17 digs, while Ivy Baresh had 12 digs. Hailey King recorded 10 digs for the Islanders.
In the first set, the Huskies took a 2-0 lead which included a service ace by Wooten. Once tying the set 9-9, TAMU-CC took a lead by three points, but a kill by senior outside hitter
Megan McStravick cut the deficit by two. The Huskies then battled to tie the set 15-15 and continued to stay close to the Islanders until the set was tied again 21-21. The Islanders then managed to score four straight points in order to take the set 25-21.
In the second set, HBU took another 2-0 lead, but TAMU-CC came back to tie the set 2-2. The Islanders led by as many as five, but the Huskies scored three to make the set 11-9. TAMU-CC kept their lead, but a kill by Wooten kept HBU in the set 17-12. The Islanders scored four straight points to lead 21-12. The Huskies then scored two, but the Islanders scored the last four points in order to win the set 25-14.
In the third set, the Huskies jumped to a 3-1 lead over the Islanders and kept their lead until the Islanders battled back to tie the set 7-7. HBU trailed 12-9, but came back to tie the set 12-12, which included a kill by sophomore outside hitter
Melissa Fuchs. Once tying the set again 15-15, HBU was not able to grab a lead as TAMU-CC won the set 25-17.
The Huskies outblocked the Islanders 8-5. TAMU-CC outhit HBU 40-29. The Islanders outdug the Huskies by 10 digs.
The Huskies will return to action to face Central Arkansas Thursday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. in Conway, Ark.
