ARLINGTON, Texas - HBU continues its non-conference rivalry with intrastate foe UT Arlington Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at College Park Center. The Legacy Sports Network audio broadcast with Lonnie King begins at 7:15 p.m. with the pregame show.
Junior guard Anthony Odunsi leads the Huskies (1-1) in scoring with 14.0 points per game and assists with 3.5 per game, while sophomore forward Colter Lasher is coming off a career-high 17 point effort to boost his season average to 11.5 points per game, while also pulling down 5.5 rebounds per game. Senior guard Marcel Smith adds 9.5 points per game off the bench, while senior center Ricmonds Vilde is averaging 8.0 points and 6.5 rebounds after resting during much of the second half against Hillsdale Baptist Monday. He posted a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds in the season-opener at Northwestern Nov. 14. Freshman center Josh Ibarra had 11 rebounds and six blocked shots in his HBU debut Monday.
Lonnie McClanahan leads the Mavericks (2-1) with 12.7 points and 2.7 assists per game off the bench. Johnny Hill adds 11.7 points per game and leads UTA on the glass with 5.3 boards per game. Erick Neal is shooting nearly 50 percent from behind the arc and averages 8.7 points per game.
UTA leads the all-time series against HBU, 19-7. The Huskies and Mavs have met seven times over the last six seasons, with UTA claiming wins in each of those contests. The two teams did not face one another from 1983-2008, but the Mavs have won 13 in a row overall in the series, with the Huskies' last victory coming in a 98-85 decision on Dec. 5, 1979 in Houston.
The Huskies will have a week off with the Thanksgiving break and return to action to host Dallas Christian Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. at Sharp Gym.
