Volleyball Falls 3-1 to TAMU-CC

Wooten, McStravick and Armer record double-doubles for the Huskies.



CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – HBU sophomore outside hitter Jessica Wooten, senior outside hitter Megan McStravick and sophomore setter Kayla Armer each led the Huskies with double-doubles Saturday afternoon in their 3-1 (20-25, 25-23, 23-25, 20-25) loss to Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
 
Wooten recorded a high of 20 kills, along with 14 digs for HBU (7-10, 2-1 SLC). McStravick had 13 kills and 12 digs for the Huskies, along with three block assists. Armer recorded 47 assists for HBU to go along with her 14 digs. Senior outside hitter Bailey Keith contributed with 10 kills for the Huskies. Senior libero Haley Hoffman led HBU defensively with 19 digs. Freshman middle blocker Blair Gillard recorded three block assists for the Huskies.
 
Brianna Brink had 20 kills for the Islanders, along with a match-high of 20 digs. Ashley Phelps recorded 14 kills for Corpus, while Brittany Gilpin had 12 kills. Kristyn Nicholson had a match-high of 59 assists for the Islanders, along with 13 digs. Ivy Barish recorded 20 digs, while Hailey King had 23 digs for Corpus Christi. Maddy Wall also contributed with 15 digs for the Islanders.
 
The Islanders outhit the Huskies 72-56. HBU outblocked A&M Corpus Christi 6-4. The Islanders outdug the Huskies 98-76.
  
The Huskies return to action at home on Thursday, October 9 as they will continue Southland Conference play against Northwestern State at 7 p.m. in Sharp Gym.
