HOUSTON – HBU men's soccer will look to ride the momentum from a 3-1 road victory over Bakersfield when the Huskies host Grand Canyon Friday night at 7 pm and UNLV Sunday at 1 pm at Sorrels Field.

The series against GCU is tied at 1-1-0, with each team winning on the road last season. HBU won in Phoenix, 2-1, Oct. 11, while the 'Lopes defeated the Huskies, 3-0, in Houston Oct. 18. UNLV leads the all-time series, 2-1-0, and defeated the Huskies, 5-2, Oct. 27 in Las Vegas.

HBU (2-6-2 overall, 1-3-0 WAC) won its first conference match of the season with a 3-1 victory over Bakersfield Oct. 19. Miguel Zapata, Stefan Lamanna, and Gustavo Alvarado each scored for the Huskies.
 
Patrick Toh had a three-match weekend and leads the team with five goals and 12 points. His two assists are one behind leader Tobenna Uzo, Thilo Borgmann, and Alvarado.
 
Both Kevin Suarez and Philip Poser have seen action in goal. Suarez is 0-5-2 with a 2.42 GAA and a .714 save percentage. He has made 45 saves in 669 minutes. Poser earned the win against Bakersfield and is 2-1-0 overall with a 1.62 GAA, a .688 save percentage, and one shutout. He has made 11 saves in 272 minutes.

Grand Canyon (3-8-2 overall, 1-3-1 WAC) went 1-0-1 last weekend at home, defeating Kansas City, 2-1, and earning a 0-0 double overtime tie versus Air Force.
 
Alberto Sanchez Garcia leads the team with eight points, on three goals and two assists. Niki Jackson follows close behind with seven points, on three goals and one helper.
               
Both Kendyl Day and Luca Licciardi have seen time between the pipes. Day is 3-6-1 with a 1.78 GAA, a .600 save percentage, and one shutout. Licciardi is 0-2-1 with a 1.34 GAA, a .667 save percentage, and one shutout.     

A 2-1 home loss to Kansas City on Oct. 19 snapped a five-match winning streak for conference-leading UNLV (10-3-1 overall, 4-1-0 WAC). The Rebels, who are receiving votes in the latest NSCAA poll, play at Incarnate Word Friday night before playing HBU.
 
Salvador Bernal is tied for third in the conference with 16 points, on seven goals and two assists. Danny Musovski and Rodrigo Fuentes follow with 15 and 10 points, respectively.
 
Preseason WAC Defensive Player of the Year, Ryan Harding, is 9-3-1 in goal with a 1.09 GAA, a .700 save percentage, and seven complete-game shutouts (one shared). He has made 35 saves in 1236 minutes.

After the home matches this weekend, HBU makes its final road trip of the regular season, when the Huskies play at Seattle on Friday, Oct. 31 at 9 pm central, followed by a meeting with conference newcomer Utah Valley on Sunday, Nov. 2 at 2 pm central. The Huskies conclude the regular season at home against Kansas City (Friday, Nov. 7 at 7 pm) and Air Force (Sunday, Nov. 9 at 1 pm).
