Men's Hoops Faces Sam Houston St. Saturday

Sophomore forward Cody Joyce has scored in double figures in 11 of the last 12 games.

HUNTSVILLE, Texas - HBU travels to take on Sam Houston State on the second leg of a four-game road swing through Texas in Southland Conference basketball Saturday at 4 p.m. at Johnson Coliseum.
 
Sophomore guard Rob Lewis leads the Huskies (4-17, 1-8 SLC) with 10.7 points per game, while sophomore forward Cody Joyce averages 10.5 points per game and has scored in double figures in 11 of the last 12. Sophomore guard Caleb Crayton is averaging 11.0 points per game over HBU's last eight games, and sophomore guard Mike Turner had a career-high 12 points at Lamar Thursday. Sophomore forward Dauson Womack leads the Huskies with 5.1 rebounds per game.
 
Sam Houston State (15-6, 7-2) is led by Jabari Peters, who averages 13.3 points and 4.5 rebounds per game and leads the Bearkats with 81 assists. Kaheem Ransom adds 11.7 points, and Paul Baxter adds 10.0 points per game. Michael Holyfield leads Sam Houston State with 6.2 rebounds per game.
 
Sam Houston State leads the all-time series against HBU, 7-6, and broke the tie with a 69-57 victory over the Huskies last season on Dec. 8, 2012, in Houston.
 
The Huskies return to action when they face Abilene Christian Thursday, Feb. 6 in Abilene, followed by Incarnate Word Saturday, Feb. 8 in San Antonio.
