Men's Hoops Returns Home for Battle With New Orleans

Huskies have had three-straight games decided by two points or fewer.

Sophomore forward Dauson Womack averaged 13.0 points and 9.0 rebounds in HBU's two wins over New Orleans last year. The Huskies host the Privateers in Southland Conference play Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Sharp Gym.

HOUSTON - HBU returns home to host New Orleans in Southland Conference basketball Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Sharp Gym. The Huskies' video broadcast with Lonnie King presented by Legacy Sports Network is available on HBUHuskies.com.
 
The Huskies (4-14, 1-5 SLC) have had their last three games decided by two points or fewer with two-point road losses to McNeese State and Nicholls State after a one-point victory at home over Northwestern State. Sophomore guard Rob Lewis leads HBU with 11.5 points per game primarily off the bench, while junior guard Tyler Russell averages 10.7 and sophomore forward Cody Joyce adds 10.1 points per game. Sophomore forward Caleb Crayton is averaging 12.0 points per game over the last five games, and sophomore forward Dauson Womack leads the Huskies on the glass with 5.3 rebounds per game.
 
Cory Dixon leads UNO with 14.4 points and 8.3 rebounds per game, while Matt Derenbecker adds 10.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. Tradarri McPhearson chips in with 9.4 points per game, and Isaac Mack averages 9.1 points per game.
 
UNO leads the all-time series against HBU, 6-4, but the Huskies swept the home-and-home series last season with a 75-68 overtime victory Feb. 9 in New Orleans, followed by a 65-52 win on Feb. 25 in Houston that capped HBU's eight-game winning streak. Womack had 11 points and six rebounds off the bench in the first game, then followed with a double-double in the second meeting with 15 points and 12 boards. Dixon had 15 points and seven rebounds for the Privateers in the first game, but was held to five points in the second game.
 
The Huskies wrap up the homestand against Southeastern Louisiana Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Sharp Gym, before four-straight road games againt intrastate conference rivals.
