HOUSTON – After a three-game road trip, the HBU women's basketball welcomes a familiar opponent to Sharp Gym in UT-Pan American on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 5:30 pm.
The former Great West Conference foes will meet for the 16th time in a non-conference tilt, as HBU is a member of the Southland Conference and the Broncs are a member of the WAC. UTPA leads the all-time series, 14-1, and won both meetings last season: 71-45 in Edinburg on Jan. 19 and 67-59 in Sharp Gym on Feb. 23.
HBU (3-3) closed its road trip with a 54-51 win at South Alabama on Nov. 25.
Shanice Steenholdt led the Huskies with 18 points, followed by
Erin McGarrachan with 13.
Monet Neal set new career highs with nine rebounds and four steals, as she scored nine points.
On the season, Steenholdt leads the Huskies with 16.7 points per game, six blocks, and 17 steals. She is tied with
Anna Strickland for the team lead with 6.5 rebounds per game. McGarrachan is second on the team with 12.3 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.
Tayler Jefferson leads the Huskies with 17 assists.
UT-Pan American (4-2) went 2-0 at the UTSA Classic Nov. 29-30, winning both games decisively. the Broncs defeated Norfolk State, 50-36, then Northern Illinois, 70-47.
Shonte' Goff led the Broncs with 14 points against NSU, while Brittany Bush and KaeLynn Boyd scored 17 points against NIU.
On the season, Goff leads UTPA with 9.8 points per game, followed by Boyd with 9.3. Bush is next with 9.0 points per game and has pulled down a team-high 8.0 rebounds per contest.
