Taylor Gibson's goal in the 68th minute knotted the match at one and gave the HBU women's soccer team a 1-1 double overtime tie against Southeastern Louisiana Sunday afternoon at SLU Soccer Complex.
The goal was only the ninth allowed all season by SLU freshman goalkeeper, Hope Sabadash, who entered this afternoon's contest ranked 11th in NCAA Division I with a 0.477 goals-against average.
The Lions got on the board first as Cheyenne Maxwell scored, assisted by Chelsea Villaescusa in the 28th minute off a corner.
The Huskies tied the match in the 68th minute, as Gibson scored her third goal of the season. The goal was assisted by
Natalie Hager and
Lara Johnson, who earned the start at forward in her final collegiate match in her four-year career at HBU. It was her first-collegiate point for the goalkeeper.
Senior
Shelby Horn made a couple of crucial saves in the final minutes of regulation to send the match into overtime.
SLU had one shot and one corner kick attempt, as the two teams battled to a tie.
SLU outshot HBU in the match, 11-7, and had a large advantage in corner kicks, 15-3. Horn made four saves for the Huskies, while Sabadash made three.
HBU concludes its season at 5-12-2 overall and 4-7-1 in its first season in the Southland Conference.
