Men's Hoops Faces Texas In Hall of Fame Classic Monday

Huskies, Longhorns first-ever meeting televised live on Longhorn Network.

AUSTIN, Texas - HBU plays its second Big 12 opponent in 10 days as it travels to face Texas in the first-ever meeting between the two schools as part of the CBE Hall of Fame Classic Monday at 7 p.m. at the Frank Erwin Special Events Center. The game will be televised live on Longhorn Network, and the live Legacy Sports Network audio broadcast with Lonnie King is available on HBUHuskies.com.
 
The Huskies (1-1) are led by junior guard Tyler Russell, who is averaging 16. 5 points per game off the bench. Sophomore guard Rob Lewis adds 14.5 points per game and has scored in double figures in the last 11 games, while sophomore center Cody Joyce has set a career high in each of the first two games and is averaging 12.0 points per game. Sophomore forward Dauson Womack leads HBU on the boards with 7.0 rebounds per game, and Joyce is chipping in with 5.0 rebounds per game.
 
HBU opened the season with a 76-61 loss on the road to Big 12 foe Texas Tech. Russell had a game-high 19 points in his return to the court, after missing the final 16 games last season with a knee injury. The Huskies rebounded with a 75-61 victory over Crowley's Ridge last Monday. Lewis led four HBU players in double figures with 17 points.
 
Jonathan Holmes leads Texas (3-0) with 15.0 points per game and also averages 6.0 rebounds per game. Javan Felix averages 13.7 and Isaiah Taylor averages 13.3 points per game, and Demarcus Holland averages 12.3 points and 6.3 boards per game. Connor Lammert paces the Longhorns on the glass with 7.0 rebounds per game to go along with 10.0 points per contest.
 
Texas is coming off a 72-62 victory over HBU's Southland Conference rival Stephen F. Austin Friday night. Five Longhorns scored in double figures, led by Holland's 21 points.
 
The Huskies begin a five-game stretch away from home against the Longhorns, as they will continue action in the CBE Hall of Fame Classic with three games in Mobile, Ala., over the weekend. HBU  faces Wright State Friday, Southern Miss Saturday, before the final against host South Alabama, which lost to Texas, 84-77, Tuesday.
