Men's Basketball Begins Four-Game Road Swing at Utah Valley

Huskies and Wolverines tip off Saturday at 8:05 p.m. CST

OREM, Utah - Houston Baptist begins a stretch of four-straight road games with a Great West Conference showdown against Utah Valley Saturday at 8:05 p.m. CST at the UCCU Center in Orem, Utah. The live broadcast with Lonnie King, presented by Legacy Sports Network, will be available on HBUHuskies.com at 7:45 p.m. CST.
 
Senior forward Art Bernardi leads the Huskies (4-11, 0-1 GWC) with 13.0 points per game and is tied for the team lead with 5.3 rebounds per game, while sophmore guard Tyler Russell averages 11.4 points per game and is second on the team with 39 assists. Sophomore guard Marcel Smith has averaged 13.7 points per game and 4.7 assists over the last three games and leads HBU with 40 assists for the season, while freshman forward Dauson Womack is tied for the team lead in rebounds wioth 5.3 per game. Freshman guard Caleb Crayton has started the last four games and is averaging 10.3 points and 5.5 rebounds during that stretch.
 
Ben Aird leads four Utah Valley (8-10, 0-1) player in double figures with 13.8 points, 8.3 rebounds and more than two blocks per game. Holton Hunsaker adds 12.9 points per game, Alfonzo Hubbard averages 10.9 points per game and Nick Thompson averages 10.6 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.
 
Utah Valley leads the all-time series against HBU, 6-2, including the last four meetings. The Wolverines took the last matchup, 75-56, on Feb. 23 in Orem.
 
The Huskies return to action at UTEP Monday at 8:05 p.m. CST in El Paso, Texas. Next week, HBU will take on conference foe Chicago State Saturday, Jan. 19 in Chicago, before facing UMKC Tuesday, Jan. 22 in Kansas City, Mo.
