SAN ANTONIO – Eight days after Houston Baptist swept UT-San Antonio at Sharp Gym, the Roadrunners returned the favor with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-11) victory over the Huskies Tuesday night at UTSA Convocation Center.

McKenzie Adams had a double-double for UTSA (8-4) with 17 kills and 16 digs, while Brittney Malloy had 11 kills and five blocks. Dempsey Thornton and Whitney Walls each added nine kills for the Roadrunners. Brandy Huskey had 43 assists and 10 digs, while Paige Hamilton had 21 digs and Jordan Kotara added 17.
The Roadrunners hit .297 for the match, while holding the Huskies to .123. UTSA outdug HBU, 76-74, and held a 7-0 advantage in blocks.
HBU scored five-straight points on a kill by Gaffney and two each by Wenger and Keith to take a 6-3 lead in the first, but much like last week's match, it quickly became tightly contested with 14 ties. After the Roadrunners tied the frame, 7-7, neither team led by more than two points the rest of the way. With the score tied, 23-23, UTSA took the final two points for a 25-23 decision.
UTSA jumped out to an 11-4 lead in the second, but HBU scored four-straight points to make the score 14-10, then got to within one at 17-16. The Roadrunners were able to hold off the Huskies, though, extending their lead to 21-17 and going on to a 25-21 victory in the set.
The Roadrunners led 7-6 early in the third, but scored five-straight points to extend their advantage to 12-6. After an HBU sideout, UTSA used a six-point run to go ahead 18-7, then clinched the match by a score of 25-11.
The Huskies return to action when they travel to face New Orleans Saturday at 2 p.m. in New Orleans, La.
