Paige Gibson fired a 73, then followed with a 74, for a 36-hole total of 147 and is alone in second on the leaderboard after the first day of the Jackrabbit Invitational Monday at Primm Valley Golf Club's Lake Course.
Junior
Kelsey Lou-Hing opened with a 78, then shot an 82 and is tied for 25
th at 160. Sophomore
Katie Paxton shot 87 in the first round, but rebounded with 78 in the second, and is tied for 37
th at 165. Senior
Natasha Lee got off to a solid start with a 76, but carded 90 in the second round and is tied for 41
st at 166. Freshman
Caitlyn Cassity shot 85 and 84 and is tied for 53
rd at 169.
Gibson trails Southern Utah's Monica Jung by five strokes, as Jung shot a 3-under par 69 in the first round and 73 in the second to take the 36-hole lead at 2-under par 142. Gibson is three shots clear of Oakland's Alanna Gerber and UMKC's Taylor Fisher, who are tied for third at 150.
Oral Roberts leads the tournament with a score of 616, five strokes ahead of Northern Iowa. Arkansas State is third at 624, UMKC is in fourth with 627, and HBU rounds out the top five at 630.
The tournament concludes Tuesday beginning at 8 a.m.
