Women’s Golf Finishes 10th at Claud Jacobs Challenge

Junior Kelsey Lou-Hing led the Huskies by tying for 23rd at the Claud Jacobs Challenge.

VICTORIA, Texas – Houston Baptist junior Kelsey Lou-Hing shot a final-round 77 to tie for 23rd and lead the Huskies to a 10th-place finish in the Claud Jacobs Challenge presented by SCOR golf Tuesday at Victoria Country Club.
 
Lou-Hing opened with an 84 Sunday, followed by a 77 in the second round for a 54-hole total of 238. Senior Paige Gibson shot an 82 in the first round, then back-to-back rounds of 79 to tie for 29th with a score of 240, while sophomore Katie Paxton shot a 79, followed by an 86, before finishing with an 81 to tie tie for 48th with a total of 246, in her first start at HBU. Senior Alexandra Hopson tied for 63rd at 253 with rounds of 81, 83 and 89. Sophomore Jessica Ngui tied for 68th at 257 by shooting 88, 84 and 85.
 
Host Texas State won the tournament by 33 strokes with a total of 901. Missouri and Iowa tied for second at 934, while Louisianan Monroe finished fourth at 940 and Sam Houston State rounded out the top five with a score of 944.
 
Louisiana Monroe's Ali Lucas defeated Texas State's Krista Puisite on the second hole of a playoff, after the two players were tited at 224 after 54 holes.
 
The Huskies return to action next week when they compete in the Islanders Classic hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Monday and Tuesday at Corpus Christi Country Club in Corpus Christi, Texas.
