Tyler Russell averages 12.1 points per game and leads the team with 18 assists. Senior guard
Marcus Davis adds 8.3 points and 5.0 rebounds per game and leads HBU with 13 steals.
Sam Houston State (3-5) is balanced, with five players averaging more than six points per game, but none higher than 8.1. Darius Gatson leads the Bearkats with 8.1 points per game, while Terrance Motley averages 8.0 points and a team-leading 6.5 rebounds off the bench. Marquel McKinney averages 6.9 points per game, while DeMarcus Gatlin adds 6.8 and James Thomas 6.7.
The Huskies have lost three straight, the past two on the road, including last Saturday's setback to Rice, 61-53. Bernardi had 15 points and 14 rebounds, and Russell also had 15 points. The Bearkats have dropped back-to-back games on the road, falling to Northern Arizona, 77-60. Gatlin had 14 points to lead Sam Houston State, and Motley pulled down 11 boards.
HBU returns to action when it hits the road to face UT Arlington Dec. 13 at 7:05 p.m. in Arlington, Texas, before returning home to host Arlington Baptist Dec. 18 at 7:05 p.m. at Sharp Gym.
