Horn and Missimer Post-Match Interview (video)
HOUSTON –
Molly Missimer had a three-point match and
Shelby Horn earned the win and shutout in goal as Houston Baptist defeated visiting Delaware State, 2-0, Saturday afternoon at Sorrels Field on Senior Day.
With the shutout victory, Horn became the program's all-time leader in wins (9) and shutouts (6) in a single season, passing former Husky standout, Michelle Rich, in both categories.
HBU scored its first goal of the match in the 15th minute, as Missimer connected on a
Natalie Hager goal. Missimer sent a pass up the left side and Hager's shot found the lower right part of the net.
Delaware State fouled the Huskies in the box in the 27th minute and Missimer scored on the ensuing penalty kick to give HBU a 2-0 lead.
HBU outshot DSU 9-2 in the half and 5-1 on shots on goal.
Horn made two saves in the second half to earn the shutout win. She made three saves total in all 90 minutes. Missimer had a match-high six shots, three on goal.
Katelyn Koslosky took the loss in goal for DSU (3-9-1, 2-2-0 GWC), making seven saves and allowing two goals. Seven different Hornets had a shot attempt, while Candace Wyre, Morgan Durham, and last week's GWC Offensive Player of the Week Taylor Addison each had a shot on goal.
HBU (9-6-3, 3-1-0 GWC) will close out the regular season hosting Howard on Monday, Oct. 29 at 7 pm. The Huskies are 1-0-0 all-time against the Bison, defeating Howard 1-0 last season in Washington, D.C.
