Final Results
MONROE, La. - The Houston Baptist University women's golf team shot shot a final-round 303 to finish in fourth place with a total of 909 Tuesday at the ULM Fred Marx Invitational at the 5,923-yard, par-72 Bayou DeSiard Country Club.
HBU senior
Paige Gibson led the Huskies, carding a 75 for a 54-hole total of 223 to tie for fifth, while junior
Kelsey Lou-Hing shot 76 to tie for 10
th with a total of 226. Senior
Natasha Lee turned in the best performance of her HBU career with a personal-best tournament total of 229, which included a final-round 75 – also a new career low. Sophomore
Jessica Ngui turned in a score of 79 for a total of 233 to finish 21
st, while senior
Alexandra Hopson shot 77 and finished 41
st at 243.
Gibson tied for third in par-4 and par-5 scoring with she and Lee both playing the par fives at even-par. Gibson also had eight birdies for the tournament to tie for fourth. Ngui tied for second with 36 pars, while Lou-Hing tied for fourth with 35 pars.
Troy won the tournament with a score of 896, six strokes ahead of South Alabama and 10 ahead of host Louisiana-Monroe. Northeastern State's Whitney McAteer fired a 2-under par 70 to take the individual medalist honors with a score of 221, defeating Troy's Langley Vannoy in a playoff. South Alabama's Ashleigh Ryals and Ana Garcia tied for third a 222, one stroke behind.
The Huskies return to action at the USF Weterlefe Invitational Oct. 10-11 at Waterlefe Golf & River Club in Bradenton, Fla.
