Senior Paige Gibson is tied for fifth to lead the Huskies at the ULM Fred Marx Invitational.

MONROE, La. - Senior Paige Gibson fired a 1-over par 73, following her opening round of 75, to lead Houston Baptist University to third place in the team standings after the first two rounds of the ULM Fred Marx Invitational Monday at the 5,923-yard, par-72 Bayou DeSiard Country Club.

The Huskies have more players – four – in the top 15 in the field than any other school. Gibson is tied for fifth with a 36-hole score of 148, while junior Kelsey Lou-Hing is also among the top 10, tied for 10th at 150 with rounds of 76 and 74. Sophomore Jessica Ngui and senior Natasha Lee are each tied for 14th at 154, with each shooting 78 and 76. Senior Alexandra Hopson is tied for 45th at 166 with back-to-back rounds of 83.

Gibson is tied for second with seven birdies for the tournament, while Ngui is tied for second with 25 pars. Lou-Hing is also among the leaders with 23 pars, as well as Lee with 22.

Troy leads the tournament with a 36-hole team total of 598, one stroke ahead of South Alabama and eight up on HBU. The Huskies are three strokes ahead of fourth-place Louisiana-Monroe, the tournament host, and 12 ahead of fifth-place Sam Houston State.

Troy's Langley Vannoy leads the tournament individually, with rounds of 74 and 71, at 1-over par 145, one stroke ahead of South Alabama's Ashleigh Ryals. Troy's Haley Lawrence and South Alabama's Ana Garcia are tied for third at 147, with Gibson in the group just three strokes off the lead.

The tournament concludes with the final round Tuesday.
