LINCOLN, Neb. – The Houston Baptist University women's golf team closed with a team score of 321 to tie for 10th at the Chip-N-Club Invitational Tuesday at the 6,186-yard, par-72 Country Club of Lincoln.
Sophomore
Jessica Ngui carded an 82, while junior
Kelsey Lou-Hing posted a score of 81 as each tied for 28th with a 54-hole total of 239 to lead the Huskies. Senior
Paige Gibson and sophomore
Jenny Kang each shot 79 in the final round, with Gibson tying for 42nd at 244 and Kang tying for 49th at 247. Freshman
Caitlyn Cassity tied for 66th in her first collegiate start, shooting 86 in the third round for a score of 256.
SMU claimed a one-stroke victory over Redlands Community College with a score of 920. Iowa took third, five strokes behind the winner and just one stroke ahead of host Nebraska.
SMU's Felicia Espericueta fired a 1-under par 71 to claim in the individual title with a 54-hole score of 220, one stroke ahead of North Dakota State's Amy Anderson.
The Huskies return to action at the ULM Fred Marx Invitational hosted by Louisiana-Monroe at Bayou DeSiard Country Club Sept. 26-27 in Monroe, La.
