LINCOLN, Neb. – The Houston Baptist University women's golf team shot 315 in the first round and 329 in the second and stand in 11
th place after the opening day of the Chip-N-Club Invitational Monday at the 6,186-yard, par-72 Country Club of Lincoln.
Sophomore
Jessica Ngui leads the Huskies and is tied for 28
th at 157 with rounds of 79 and 78, while junior
Kelsey Lou-Hing is tied for 30
th at 158 with scores of 77 and 81. Senior
Paige Gibson is tied for 53
rd at 165, shooting 77 and 88, sophomore
Jenny Kang is tied for 58
th at 168 with scores of 82 and 86. Freshman
Caitlyn Cassity is tied for 67
th at 170 with 86 and 84 in her first collegiate event.
Redlands Community College leads the tournament by a stroke over SMU with a score of 613. Iowa is in third, three strokes back, while host Nebraska and North Dakota State are tied for fourth at 619.
North Dakota State's Amy Anderson leads individually at 3-over par 147, firing rounds of 74 and 73. Redlands' Sarah Schober is one stroke behind at 148 with scores of 76 and 72.
The tournament concludes with the final round Tuesday.
