NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin scored three second-half goals to defeat Houston Baptist, 3-0, Sunday afternoon.

Lindsey Braddick led HBU with two shots on goal. Molly Missimer and Brandi Hart each had a shot on goal.

Stephanie Castellon took the loss in goal, allowing three goals and making nine saves.

Kylie Louw had a three-point match for SFA, with a goal and an assist. Janae Lee and Laura Sadler each scored a goal, while Chelsea Raymond had an assist.

Lacey Lee earned the shutout win in goal for the Ladyjacks, making four saves.

“We played well in the first half and let down a bit in the second half,” said head coach Misty Jones. “Had we played a complete 90 minutes, it could have been a more favorable result.”

After a scoreless opening half, the Ladyjacks scored three times against HBU. SFA's first goal came in the 53rd minute, as Sadler scored, assisted by Louw. The goal came two minutes after SFA was awarded a corner kick, which Sadler took.

Eight minutes later, in the 61st minute, SFA scored again, as Lee scored, unassisted, off a deflection in front of the goal.

The Lady Jacks put the icing on the cake in the 88th minute, when Louw scored, assisted by Raymond. Raymond sent a cross into the box that Louw kicked into the net.

SFA outshot HBU 23-7, including a 12-4 advantage in shots on goal. The Ladyjacks had six corner kicks, while the Huskies had zero.

“As long as we continue to learn from our mistakes and continue to mature, then it was a successful weekend,” said Jones.

HBU (4-4-0) will host Houston on Wed., Sept. 15 at 7 pm.
