SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Houston Baptist University women's golf team got off to a slow start with a 319 in the opening round, but roared back with a 302 in the second round – the lowest team round of the day – to move up three spots and are tied for third after the first day of the Missouri State Payne Stewart Memorial Monday at the 6,079-yard, par-72 Rivercut Golf Club.

Kelsey Lou-Hing are each tied for fifth with a 36-hole total of 152. Lou-Hing opened with a 78, then shot a 74, while Hopson shot an 81, then followed by firing a 1-under par 71 – the lowest round of the tournament by two strokes. Sophomore

th at 157 after carding an 81 and a 76, while sophomore
Jessica Ngui is tied for 34
th at 161 with scores of 80 and 81. Senior

th at 164, shooting 80 and 84.
Host Missouri State leads the tournament at 608, five strokes ahead of UMKC and 13 strokes ahead of HBU. The Huskies are five shots ahead of Indiana State and seven ahead of South Dakota State and Drury. Drury's Katrina Choate leads the tournament with a score of 149 after carding 73 and 76. She leads Indiana State's Emily Dixon and UMKC's Rachel Mulkey by one stroke.
The tournament concludes with the final round Tuesday.
