Women's Soccer Falls to Utah Valley, 3-1

OREM, Utah – Freshman Taylor Gibson scored her first collegiate goal, but the Utah Valley Wolverines scored three times to defeat Houston Baptist, 3-1, Saturday evening at Clyde Field.

Gibson recorded the only points for HBU, as she is now second among freshmen in points, with four. Amina Radoncic led the Huskies this evening with three shots, two on goal.

Stephanie Castellon suffered the loss, making seven saves while allowing three goals.

Camille Broderick, Natalie Young and Regan Clifford scored for the Wolverines, while Lauren Sack and Jaime Lyons recorded assists. Young and Maddie Adams led with three shots on goal.

Sack earned the win in goal, making six saves and giving up one goal.

The Wolverines scored the match's first goal, in the ninth minute, as Broderick scored, assisted by Lyons.

That was the only scoring in the opening half, as Utah Valley outshot HBU, 8-5.

HBU tied the match in the 60th minute, as Gibson scored, unassisted. But just seven minutes later, Utah Valley scored the eventual game winner, as Clifford scored on a free kick by keeper Sack.

In the 87th minute, Young scored, unassisted.

HBU (6-8-1, 1-1-1 GWC) will prepare for a season-high three-match home stand to conclude the regular season. The first opponent will be last season's tournament runner up, North Dakota, on Sat., Oct. 22 at 7 pm.
