HBU Basketball Hosts Duquesne Before Beginning Great West Conference Play

Huskies return home before three-game road trip.

HOUSTON - Houston Baptist will host Duquesne Saturday at 7:35 p.m. at Sharp Gym in its final tuneup before beginning Great West Conference play next week.

Senior guard Andrew Gonzalez leads the Huskies (1-12) and the conference with 20.4 points per game, while adding 5.2 rebounds per game. Junior forward Terry Bembry averages 8.7 points per game and leads the team with 7.1 rebounds per game, which ranks fourth in the league. Senior guard Michael Moss is averaging 8.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, while leading the team in assists and steals.

Duquesne (8-5) has four players averaging in double figures, led by Bill Clark, who averages 17.5 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Damian Saunders averages 12.4 points and leads the team with 7.3 rebounds per game. B.J. Monteiro averages 11.5 and T.J. McConnell averages 11.2 points per game.

Saturday's game marks the first-ever meeting between HBU and Duquesne. The Huskies have lost six in a row, while the Dukes have won their last three.

The Huskies next hit the road for a three-game road trip as they face Chicago State Thursday and NJIT Saturday to begin conference play, then take on Fairleigh Dickinson in non-conference action Monday.
