Basketball Falls to Green Bay, 77-61

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Green Bay grabbed 23 offensive rebounds and outrebounded Houston Baptist by 20 overall to down the Huskies, 77-61, in non-conference basketball Monday night at the Resch Center.

 

Senior guard Andrew Gonzalez led the Huskies (1-11) with 29 points on 8-of-16 shooting and 12-of-14 from the free-throw line. Senior guard Michael Moss had 17 points, six rebounds, seven assists and six steals.

 

Jarvis Williams, Daniel Turner and Rahmon Fletcher each had 14 points to lead the Phoenix (7-9), while Alec Brown had 12. Williams and Brown recorded double-doubles with 12 and 10 rebounds, respectively.

 

Green Bay shot 42.4 percent from the field, but only 2-for-16 from 3-point range. They also hit 19-of-28 from the free-throw line. HBU shot 38.3 percent from the field, 40.0 percent from behind the arc and 21-of-32 from the free-throw line. The Phoenix pulled down 48 rebounds, while holding the Huskies to 28. HBU also had 20 turnovers, and Green Bay had 17.

 

HBU shot only 21.7 percent in the first half as Green Bay took a 38-23 lead into halftime. The Huskies, who trailed by as many as 20, shot 54.2 percent in the second half.
