Basketball Opens Season on Road against Oklahoma State, Northwestern State

Huskies face Cowboys Saturday afternoon, followed by Demons Monday night.

Game Notes

The Houston Baptist University basketball team hits the road for two games in two different states as they face Oklahoma State Saturday at 3 p.m. and Northwestern State Monday at 7 p.m.

The game against the Cowboys is the regular-season opener for both teams. HBU is 1-9 all-time against Oklahoma State and 12-13 all-time against Northwestern State.

The Huskies are led by senior guard/forward Andrew Gonzalez, who led the Great West in scoring last year and was voted the league's preseason player of the year. Senior guard Michael Moss led the league in steals and ranked second in assists and he along with sophomore guard Miles Dixon earned preseason honorable mention.

Oklahoma State is led by sophomore guard Keiton Page, who averaged 10.7 points per game last season. Junior forward Marshall Moses averaged 8.8 points and 8.1 rebounds per game, while senior forward Matt Pilgrim averaged 8.2 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.

Northwestern State opens the season at LSU Friday night. The Demons return senior guard Devon Baker, who led them in scoring last season with 14.0 points per game. Senior forward Will Pratt also returns and averaged 13.4 points per game.

The Huskies will face UT-Arlington in their home opener Saturday, Nov. 20 at 7:35 p.m. at Sharp Gym.
