Senior Kaitlin Smith was named the Most Valuable Perfomer at the Southland Conference Championships. The Wailuku, Hawai'i, native captured the gold medal in the heptathlon with a meet record 5,685 points, which ranks ninth nationally. Smith also won gold in the 100-meter hurdles, silver in the long jump and broze in the 400-meter hurdles. She also scored points with a fifth-place finish in the high jump.
