Howard Sturgeon joined the HCU women’s soccer program in August of 2023. Sturgeon was part of the Huskies' coaching staff that led team to a 7-11 overall record, 4-6 in Southland Conference play, and a run to the SLC Tournament semifinals.

Prior to joining HCU, Sturgeon was named Interim Head Women's Soccer Coach at Briar Cliff University for the Spring 2023 season and was integral in the day to day running of the program.

Sturgeon spent two seasons as the assistant coach at Briar Cliff University. He helped guide the Charger's women's soccer team to its first GPAC Tournament Championship in 2021, as well as helping lead the program to an undefeated GPAC Regular Season in 2022 with a 10-0-2 record.

During Sturgeon's time with the Chargers, the program made back-to-back appearances at the NAIA National Tournament. The team never dropped outside of the NAIA Coaches National Rankings, amassing an overall record of 28-6-5 as assistant coach.

As a player, Sturgeon was an A.I.I All-Conference selection in 2017 at Waldorf University. Waldorf won its first A.I.I. Conference Championship and competed at the 2017 NAIA National Tournament for the first time in program history during his first season as a Warrior, earning all-conference honors.

Sturgeon holds a double Master’s in Business and HR Management, as well as a double bachelor’s in Business and Sport Management, from Waldorf University.Sturgeon holds a USSF C License and is currently. Additionally he holds an FA Level 2 Coaching license from the United Kingdom.
