Melina joins the HCU women’s basketball program in the role of Director of Engagement in 2024. She brings with her 25 years of experience as a leader for United and Continental Airlines with concentrations in personnel, finance, customer service, and contract negotiations. Her leadership roles varied within the Cargo, Corporate Payroll, and Airport Services divisions (Texas & New Jersey) where she produced client valued results for both internal and external relationships.
In addition, her work as a Legislative Director in the Texas Legislature (Austin) and as the Director for Legislative Affairs and Human Resources at the Federal level (Texas, Washington DC, New York) for a private consulting company, resulted in an expansion of her unique work experiences allowing for utilizing, creating, and nurturing partnerships driving value creation for all parties.
As a trusted advisor and partner, she brings a proven ability to manage and react to a quick changing environment and ensure client engagement and success though the client lifecycle process. She attributes her successes to being a former two sport athlete who utilized the principles of team sports to create successes in business relationships and client satisfaction.
Melina will be working to build partnerships for the women's team and create new opportunities for our staff and athletes in the community.
Melina is a native Houstonian and proud alumna of Incarnate Word Academy and The University of Texas at Austin. When not traveling with her family, she enjoys spending time at their country retreat in Lavaca County.
