High School: Was a three-year starter at Gregory-Portland High School for coach Brian Flack...as a senior, posted a 1.83 ERA with 66 strikeouts in 54.0 innings…hit .386…as a junior, recorded a 2.32 ERA with 41 strikeouts in 31.0 innings…hit .323…made the THSBA 5A All-State Team…nominated for the MLB All-South Texas All-Star Team…member of the National Honor Society…played for the Austin Banditos and coach Gene Salazar…posted a 1.91 ERA with 55 strikeouts in 47 innings…named All-Tournament at the Perfect Game Super 25, leading his team to a National Runner-Up finish.
