2014 (Junior): Hernandez made three relief appearances, recording a 21.60 ERA with a strikeout and a walk in 1.2 innings...threw an inning of perfect relief against Stephen F. Austin (5/16).
 
2013 (Sophomore): Made seven relief appearances, posting a 1.42 ERA with three strikeouts in 6.1 innings...allowed an earned run in his first appearance, but did not allow another over his final six appearances.
 
2012 (Freshman): Made three relief appearances, recording a 5.40 ERA in 1.2 innings…tossed one scoreless inning at UT Arlington (3/3).
 
High School: Played for coach Israel De Los Santos at Clements High School, helping the Rangers reach the regional semifinals as a senior…earned academic achievement award in 2008.
 
Personal: Full name is Michael Xavier Hernandez…born Oct. 27, 1992, in Houston…he and his wife, Kara, have a son, Lincoln Xavier…son of Xavier and Deborah Hernandez…has two sisters, Danielle and Sarah, and one brother, Stephen…father is HBU assistant coach Xavier Hernandez, who pitched in Major League Baseball from 1989-98 with the Astros, Rangers, Yankees, Reds and Blue Jays…majoring in art.
