Sam McElreath is in his first season at HCU as the volunteer assistant baseball coach.
Last season, McElreath was an assistant coach at Blinn College, coaching first base, as well as the infielders. The Buccaneers’ infield ranked in the top 10 nationally in fielding percentage. He was the graduate assistant coach at Western Kentucky for the 2022 seasons, coaching first base and the outfielders.
A Brenham, Texas, native, McElreath began his collegiate career at Blinn College, where he was a two-year starter at the corner infield positions. He was an NJCAA Academic All-American, All-Region XIV Conference Player and the Leroy Dreyer Team MVP in 2017. He then went on to become a three-year starter as an infielder, playing all four positions, at Western Kentucky.
He earned his associate degree in business from Blinn in 2017, then a bachelor of science in sales and business marketing from Western Kentucky in 2019. McElreath completed a Master of science in sports administration from Western Kentucky in 2021.
McElreath was a four-year starter as an infielder, catcher and pitcher at Brenham High School. He was a three-time all-district selection and a two-time all-state selection.
