Ryan Farney returns to the Huskies for a second stint on the coaching staff. He will serve as the hitting and infield coach.
Farney joins HCU after spending the last five seasons at Alvin Community College, his second time coaching with the Dolphins. He served as recruiting coordinator, hitting coach and third base coach, helping to produce multiple Division 1 and professional prospects while also helping ACC to the 2022 NJCAA Region 14 North Championship.
He spent two seasons at HCU where he served as Director of Operations following his first run at Alvin for the 2016-17 season. He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at his alma mater, Sam Houston State.
A four-year letterwinner for the Bearkats, Farney earned his degree in marketing in 2015. He played in 110 career games, batting .271 over his career and was named Southland All-Conference second team in 2014. He played in three NCAA Regionals, and was named to the All-Tournament team at the Baton Rouge Regional in 2013 after batting .333 with a home run and 3 RBIs.
The Houston native was a two time all-district selection at Lamar High School at shortstop and left field playing for Mike McGilvray. Farney played for the Houston Heat baseball club and was also a member of the 2009 West University Senior Little League World Series championship team.
Farney is married to the former Hannah Henderson. The couple resides in Houston with their three children: Avery, Skyler and River.
