Biography

2010: Named the utility player on the Great West All-Conference First Team…appeared in 49 games, including 44 starts – 32 at first base, 12 at designated hitter and eight on the mound…hit .319 and was second on the team with seven home runs and third on the team with 47 RBIs…also had 13 doubles and a .514 slugging percentage…had 18 multiple-hit games and 12 multiple-RBI games…on the mound, went 2-4 with a 7.77 ERA in 48.2 innings…in the first game, went 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs, then went 3-for-5 with two doubles in the second game of the doubleheader against New Mexico State (4/2)…pitched a complete-game, seven hit shutout with two strikeouts to earn a 2-0 win over Lamar (4/6)…in his next start, took a perfect game into the seventh inning, shutting out NJIT on two hits and striking out a career-high six, while also going 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, an RBI and two runs scored (4/11)…named Great West Conference pitcher of the week (4/13)…went 3-for-6 with a home run and two RBIs in the opener against Chicago State (4/30)…homered in back-to-back games at North Dakota (5/14 & 5/15) and also tied his career-high with four RBIs in the first game of the doubleheader…went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs against Utah Valley (5/21).

Previous College: Was a first-team All-Conference and Region XIV selection for coach Jeff Livin.

High School: Was a four-time all-district selection for coach Ricky Crawford...named first-team all-state as well as first-team All-Greater Houston and Houston Chronicle first-team...Named a THSBA and HABCA All-Star.
 
Personal: Born Jan. 4, 1989… son of Chuck and Denise Hernandez...has two brothers, Jason and Matt, and one sister, Amanda...cousin, Ron Guidry, was a pitcher for the New York Yankees...plans to become a sports broadcaster with his own radio talk show…majoring in mass communication.
