Previous School: Fitzgerald played at Kirkwood Community College for coach Todd Rima after redshirting at Creighton University...earned second-team all-region honors…hit .311 with 14 doubles, three home runs, three triples, 38 RBIs, 43 runs and 11 stolen bases…Kirkwood was ranked in the Top 10 nationally.
 
High School: Was a four-year  letterwinner at Newman Catholic High School for coach Tony Adams...also played football and basketball…played in three high school state championships and state semifinals in football…made the Honor Roll all four years…played for PG Iowa Select for coach Steve James.
