Biography

2014 (Junior): Jones was one of four Huskies to start all 51 games, leading the team in both at-bats (227) and innings pitched (89.0)…was selected Southland Conference Utility Player of the Year…named to the Southland Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll…led HBU and ranked fifth in the league with a .361 batting average and had five doubles, 22 RBIs and a team-leading 33 runs…had a season-long 14-game hitting streak from April 4 to April 27…in 13 starts on the mound, went 4-5 with a 3.64 ERA, two complete games, a shutout, 42 strikeouts, 21 walks and a .259 opponents batting average…led HBU with 26 multiple-hit games, including four three-hit games and four four-hit games…hit safely in the season’s first seven games, with six multiple-hit games…had three RBIs in the season-opener against Prairie View A&M (2/14)…went 4-for-5 with two runs and a stolen base against Kansas (2/28)…went 3-for-4 with three runs against New Orleans (3/22)…went 4-for-5 with a apir of runs at Southeastern Louisiana (3/29)…went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and a pair of runs against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (4/12)…went 4-for-5 with an RBI and a run at Oral Roberts (4/17)…during the ORU series, went 9-for-16...in the series at Lamar, went 9-for-15, including 4-for-6 with an RBI and a pair of runs in the finale (5/4)…tied the HBU record for at-bats in a single game with eight at Nicholls (3/15)…hit safely in the last five games of the season, which included three-straight two-hit performances…hurled his first shutout, allowing five hits and striking out two in a 7-0 victory over Northeastern (2/22)…pitched a complete game, allowing one run on six hits and striking out two at Southeastern Louisiana (3/30)…struck out a season-high eight in 7.1 innings of a 6-3 victory over Abilene Christian (4/27)…did not allow an earned run in 8.0 innings of a 13-2 win at Lamar (5/4).
 
2013 (Sophomore): Was one of three Huskies to appear in all 59 games, making 58 starts – 56 at third base, two at designated hitter and two on the mound…was named to the Great West Conference All-Tournament Team…hit safely in the last eight games of the season, recording two hits in six of those contests…hit .280 with 11 doubles, a triple, a home run, 30 RBIs, 33 runs and tied for the team lead by going 11-for-12 in stolen base attempts…fourth on the team with 18 multiple-hit games, including one of three of the team’s four-hit performances…had seven multiple-RBI efforts…on the mound, made eight appearances overall, going 3-0 with a 5.84 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 24.2 innings…went 2-for-5 with a double and a run in the Huskies’ 13-3 victory over Northern Colorado in the championship game of the Great West Conference Tournament (5/25)…went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs at NJIT (5/21) in the first round of the conference tournament…went 2-for-3, hit his first career home run and stole two bases in the series opener at NJIT (5/16)…was 2-for-5 and scored three runs and picked up the victory on the mound, allowing three runs, one earned, on five hits and striking out two in six innings at Prairie View A&M (4/23)…went 4-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run against Penn State (3/9)…allowed two runs on three hits and struck out a season-high five in 4.2 innings of relief to get the win against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (4/16)…allowed two runs, one earned, on four hits in 6.1 innings to pick up the win against Stephen F. Austin (5/7).
 
2012 (Freshman): Appeared in 58 games, making 57 starts – 35 at third base, 14 at shortstop and eight as pitcher/designated hitter…hit .319 with 13 doubles, two triples, 31 RBIs, 26 runs and 22 walks…on the mound, made 14 appearances and led the team in wins, going 6-5 with a 3.94 ERA, 37 strikeouts and 20 walks in 59.1 innings…recorded one complete game and had one combined shutout…fourth on the team with 18 multiple-hit games and had five multiple-RBI games…reached base safely in a team-best 24-straight games from April 5-May 8…went 3-for-4 with a double at UT Arlington (2/24)…went 3-for-5 with a walk and three runs scored at Sam Houston State (3/6)…drove in a pair of runs at Lamar (3/13)…went 2-for-4 with three RBIs against Utah Valley (5/5)…went 3-for-3 with a double and an RBIat Texas-Pan American (5/19)…at the Great West Conference Tournament, went 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs at Utah Valley (5/23)…went 2-for-3 with two walks, two runs and an RBI against North Dakota (5/25)…earned his first win by tossing one perfect inning against Stephen F. Austin (2/25)…earned the victory, allowing four runs in 5.2 innings at Prairie View A&M (4/3)…notched the win in a 2-1 decision over NYIT (4/29), holding the Bears scoreless on one and striking out three in 2.1 innings of relief…combined with Michael Schulle for the Huskies’ lone shutout of the season, a 5-0 victory at North Dakota (5/13), giving up six hits and striking out a career-high six in 6.1 innings…tossed his first career complete game, allowing five runs and striking out four in nine innings of an 11-5 victory over Northern Colorado (5/25) at the Great West Conference Tournament.
 
High School: Two-year letterwinner and starter for coach John Pope at Cypress Ranch High School…as a senior, was a first-team all-district and second-team all-Greater Houston selection…hit .420 with four home runs and had a 1.68 ERA and 64 strikeouts in 58 innings…played at Minute Maid Park for the TASO Tournament.
