AUSTIN, Texas – HCU split a pair of duals on Saturday, the final day of the regular season, against UTEP and No. 4 Texas as the Huskies now turn their attention to the 2026 Southland Conference Championship.
The Huskies (9-22) opened the day with a 3-2 victory over UTEP (7-19). HCU got off on the right foot with
Claudia Verdejo Lozano and
Mycah Whittemore picking up the first point on Court 5, 21-15, 21-14. The next point, at Court 4, went to the HCU duo of
Emma Chappell and
Dariya Tlevlessova in two sets (21-17, 23-21) before
Hannah Foor and
Olivia Zeigler wrapped up the match win on Court 2, winning it in three sets (21-15, 20-22, 15-12). Courts 1 and 3 went to the Miners with the threes pairing of
Alexa Landmark and
Lauren Vickery falling in three sets (21-18, 17-21, 16-14).
The later match against the fourth-ranked Longhorns (22-6) went 5-0 to the hosts.
Sophia Sabol and Tlevlessova fell in two sets but played both close, falling 21-18, 21-18.
HCU will next compete at the 2026 Southland Conference Championships in Corpus Christi, Texas on Wednesday, Apr. 22, as the No. 4 seed against No. 5 seed New Orleans.
