BSB: Huskies Out-Hit No. 25 Texas A&M in 5-1 Loss

HCU finished the evening with eight hits to the Aggies’ seven

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – HCU baseball out-hit the 25th-ranked Texas A&M Aggies at Blue Bell Park on Tuesday evening but dropped a 5-1 decision to the hosts.

The Huskies (11-13) stranded a pair of runners in the top of the first before falling behind in the bottom half of the inning on a solo home run from Caden Sorrell. The Aggies (19-5) plated another run in the second thanks to a hit by pitch, an error and an RBI groundout.

Another solo homer off the bat of Jorian Wilson extended the A&M lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth. HCU had traffic on the bases in both the fifth and sixth but was unable to bring a run across. The Aggies then added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth for a 5-0 lead.

A trio of singles in the top of the eighth got the Huskies on the board with Katcher Halligan working an eight-pitch at bat that culminated in an infield single, bringing Graham Laxton across the plate. Trailing by four, the Huskies loaded the bases with two outs but were unable to get more out of the inning.

Jeremy Rader led the HCU offense, going 3-for-4 at the plate for his fourth three-hit game in the last five games. On the mound, Jett Feltman pitched four innings in his second start of the season with three strikeouts and no walks. He falls to 1-1 on the year after allowing three runs with just two of them earned.

HCU is right back at it on Wednesday, Mar. 25, with a home game at Husky Field against the Rice Owls at 6:30 p.m.
