NATCHITOCHES, La. – HCU wraps up the road portion of its 2025-26 schedule on Saturday afternoon when the Huskies face Northwestern State at 1:00 p.m. inside Prather Coliseum in Southland Conference play.
HCU (8-17, 6-12 SLC) enters the matchup after a 71-53 road win over East Texas A&M on Thursday. The Huskies have won two of their last three games never trailed in Thursday's big win. Sophomore
Grace Booth scored a game-high 17 points for HCU while
Jordan Jackson added 11 and
Jo Oly pitched in with 10 off the bench.The Huskies out-rebounded the Lions, 44-35, in the win.
Freshman
Kamryn McLaurin is leading the Huskies in scoring in SLC play, averaging 10.9 points per game with Booth just shy of double-figures at 9.6 ppg. With four blocked shots in the last two games, Oly now stands at 61 blocks for her career to stand alone in 15th all-time at HCU.
Northwestern State (13-13, 10-8 SLC) owns a 5-4 home mark in league games but dropped a 71-65 contest to UIW on Thursday. Sophomore Vernell Atamah poured in 33 points while also pulling down 11 rebounds in the losing effort while Clarence Djuela finished the night with 17 rebounds.
Atamah leads Northwestern State and the SLC with 18.5 ppg for the season, while Nya Valentine adds 11.7 ppg and ranks second in the league with 116 assists.
In the first meeting this season, Northwestern State defeated HCU, 67-57, in Houston on Jan. 15.
The Huskies will be on their home court for the final three games of the season, beginning next Thursday, Feb. 26, against Lamar at 6:00 p.m.
