HCU hosts Sam Houston for its home opener on Tuesday

RUSTON, La. –  The HCU baseball team lost its series finale to Louisiana Tech, 11-0, on Sunday afternoon at J.C. Love Field at Pat Patterson Park.

HCU (0-4) fell behind in the first after the Bulldogs (4-0) plated three runs in the bottom half before adding one in both the second and third for a 5-0 advantage through three innings. LA Tech added two more in the sixth and pushed four across in the seventh to end the game.

The Huskies struggled to get going offensively, finishing the day with two hits while drawing just one walk and striking out just three times as a team. Graham Laxton and Jeremy Rader collected HCU's two hits with Laxton's a double in the sixth.

Ben Smith took the loss on the mound for the Huskies, pitching four innings. The senior allowed five runs, four earned, on nine hits with two strikeouts and one walk.

HCU will host Sam Houston on Tuesday, Feb. 17, evening at Husky Field for the team's home opener at 6:30 p.m. before hosting Alcorn State for a three-game series next weekend that will include the presentation of the team's 2025 Southland Conference Championship rings following the conclusion of Saturday's game.
