HOUSTON – A Valentine's Day Southland Conference matchup awaits the HCU Huskies as the women's basketball team faces New Orleans on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. inside Sharp Gym.
The Huskies (6-17, 4-12 SLC) have six games remaining in the regular season before the Southland Conference Tournament in Lake Charles, La. Saturday's matchup begins a stretch that includes three road contests followed by three-straight home games to see out the end of the regular season schedule.
HCU earned a 79-66 road win over New Orleans (3-21, 3-13 SLC) earlier this season on Nov. 26 and will look to complete the season sweep.
Kamryn McLaurin and
Grace Booth both scored 15 the last time the two teams met while
Tove Caesar scored 12 and Madelyn Davis finished with 10 points and six assists.
On Thursday evening, sophomore
Madison Hurta led the Huskies with 13 points on 4-of-10 shooting (3-of-6 from three) in their home loss to Nicholls.
New Orleans is coming off a 77-73 road win over UIW on Thursday. Brialle Washington and Mariah Hart combined to score 32 points off the bench. Shanihya Brown leads UNO in scoring for the season, averaging 10.7 points per game.
Following Saturday's contest, the Huskies travel to East Texas A&M and Northwestern State before returning home to host Lamar, Stephen F. Austin and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to close out the regular season.
That final stretch begins on Thursday, Feb. 19, in Commerce, Texas at 6:30 p.m.
