WBB: Huskies Set for Road Test at Stephen F. Austin

HCU finishes out its current three-game road stretch on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The HCU women's basketball team will close out a three-game road stretch and play its fifth road game out of the last six contests on Saturday afternoon, traveling to face Stephen F. Austin at 2:00 p.m. inside Johnson Coliseum.

The Huskies (4–9, 2–4 SLC) enter the matchup looking to snap a five-game losing skid with the team's most recent result a 66-54 defeat at the hands of Lamar in Beaumont on Thursday evening. HCU will return home to the friendly confines of Sharp Gym, where the Huskies own a 3-1 record this season, following Saturday's game for a four-game homestand.

As a team, HCU is recording more than 10 steals per game with 132 steals in 13 games to rank tied for second in the Southland Conference. Freshman Kamryn McLaurin leads the Huskies in scoring and stands sixth in the league with 13.1 points per game. The first-year guard is also leading the team with 2.0 steals per game, good for sixth-best in the SLC.

Saturday's game will pit the SLC's top-two shooting teams against one another as SFA (10-5, 4-2 SLC) comes into the game shooting a league-best 42.7 percent from the floor with the Huskies second at 42.6 percent.

The Ladyjacks enter Saturday's game on a three-game conference winning streak with road wins over Northwestern State and Southeastern before downing UIW at home on Thursday evening, 75-63. SFA boasts a balanced offense with four players averaging double figures, led by Harmanie Dominguez (14.3 ppg) and Myka Perry (12.9 ppg). SFA head coach Leonard Bishop has used a consistent lineup all season with the same starting five for all 15 of the Ladyjacks' games so far while bringing just three players off the bench so far this season.

The Huskies open their four-game homestand on Thursday, Jan. 15, with a 6:00 p.m. matchup against Northwestern State before taking on East Texas A&M on Saturday, Jan. 17, at 2:00 p.m.
