BEAUMONT, Texas – Another Southland Conference road game awaits the HCU women's basketball team on Thursday evening as the Huskies head east for a 6:30 p.m. contest against the Lamar Cardinals at Neches Arena.

HCU (4-8, 2-3 SLC) is in the midst of an opening SLC stretch that sees the Huskies playing five of their first seven league games on the road. Thursday's matchup against Lamar (6-6, 3-2 SLC) is the second in a three-game road swing with a trip to Stephen F. Austin awaiting on Saturday, Jan. 10.

The Huskies are averaging 64.0 points per game while shooting 42.5 percent from the field this season. Kamryn McLaurin leads HCU with 13.0 points per game, with Grace Booth adding 12.1 ppg and a team-high 8.3 rebounds per game. Jordan Jackson is contributing 9.3 points ppg the team from three-point range at 37.8 percent from behind the arc.

In Southland play, HCU has secured wins over New Orleans and Southeastern, with two of its three conference losses coming against McNeese and UIW teams that are tied atop the league standings. The Huskies average 34.6 rebounds per game against league opponents, maintaining a +1.6 rebounding margin on the glass in conference action.

Lamar enters Thursday's contest averaging 62.6 points per game while allowing 59.4, ranking among the Southland's top defensive teams. The Cardinals are unbeaten at home this season at 5–0 and have earned conference victories over UTRGV, Texas A&M–Corpus Christi, and East Texas A&M.

Shaila Forman (10.7 ppg) and Jacei Denley (10.1 ppg) lead Lamar offensively, while Solenne Olenga anchors the frontcourt with 5.8 rebounds per game.

The Huskies will continue conference play Saturday afternoon against the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks with a 2:00 p.m. tipoff.
