Edinburg, Texas – The HCU women's basketball team keeps rolling through Southland Conference play on Thursday evening, traveling to face UT Rio Grande Valley at 6:30 p.m. inside the UTRGV Fieldhouse.
Thursday's matchup marks the second meeting in the span of a week between the two teams. The Vaqueros (11-9, 8-3 SLC) earned a 65–53 win in Houston last Saturday, Jan. 24, pulling away late after a tight first half at Sharp Gym. In that contest, HCU (5-13, 3-8 SLC) stayed within striking distance through three quarters before UTRGV used a fourth-quarter run to create separation.
The Huskies got 11-point performances from both
Madison Hurta and
Grace Booth in the loss with Booth pulling down a team-best six rebounds. Hurta's 11 points matched her season-high set during the previous game against UIW. The Vaqueros were led by Charlotte O'Keefe's 19 points and 22 rebounds as the senior forward surpassed 1,000 career rebounds. The Huskies won the turnover battle, forcing the visitors into 21 giveaways while committing just eight but UTRGV held a 45-24 advantage on the boards and shot 47.9 percent (23-of-48) from the floor to HCU's 30.5 percent (18-of-59).

Following Thursday's game, HCU continues its road trip on Saturday, Jan. 31, with a 1:00 p.m. matchup againt Texas A&M–Corpus Christi in Corpus Christi, Texas.
