WSOC: HCU Visits Tarleton on Sunday Afternoon

The Huskies face the Texans for just the second time in program history

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – HCU women's soccer will aim for its first win of the 2025 season on Sunday afternoon when the Huskies face off against the Tarleton State Texans at 1:00 p.m. at the Tarleton State Soccer Complex.

HCU (0-1) came out on the wrong end of a 2-1 decision on Thursday evening, falling on the road against Rice. Sophomore goalkeeper Emmy McKeon finished the evening with a career-high 10 saves. The Huskies' goal in the loss came off the foot of senior Alexia Murillo while freshmen Jasmine Diaz and Cloe Baugh were each credited with their first career assists.

Tarleton (1-0), meanwhile, picked up a win on Thursday evening against Southland Conference opponent UT Rio Grande Valley in Edinburg. Senior forward Stevie Reynolds scored the game-winner in the 12th minute of a tightly-contested match that saw just four total shots on goal.

The Huskies and Texans met at Sorrels Field in 2024 with Tarleton earning a 2-0 victory. The Texans held a slim 10-8 advantage in shot attempts with seven on goals to HCU's four.

HCU returns home to Sorrels Field to host Grambling on Friday, Aug. 22, at 5:00 p.m. before heading out to Abilene, Texas for a Sunday, Aug. 24, matchup against former SLC rival Abilene Christian.
