BVB: HCU Goes 1-1 at TCU Fight in the Fort on Day One

The Huskies fall to the No.. 2 Horned Frogs before beating ULM



FORT WORTH, Texas – On day one at the Fight in the Fort, hosted by No. 2 TCU, the HCU beach volleyball team posted a 1-1 record with a loss to the host Horned Frogs in the morning before defeating ULM in the afternoon.
 
The Huskies' (12-16) final tournament of the regular season began against a TCU (23-5) team whose only losses this season have come against teams ranked in the top seven nationally. The Horned Frogs defeated the Huskies, 5-0, with all five matches finishing in two sets.
 
HCU then came back in the afternoon to earn a 3-2 victory over ULM (12-19). Alexa Landmark and Tatum Lockhardt got the scoring started for the Huskies on Court 4, winning in two sets (21-16, 21-15). Paige Palmer and Alisia Silverthorn went to three sets at the twos but ultimately fell (21-19, 14-21, 15-12). With the score even at 1-1, No. 3 pair Audrey Pearce and Lauren Vickery took a two-set victory (23-21, 21-18) for another HCU point before the Warhawks won on Court 5. The deciding point came down to Court 1 with Kristin Gilmour and Rachel Heilbrun locking down the win with a marathon second set to win in two (21-14, 32-30).
 
The Huskies will wrap up the regular season on Saturday, Apr. 19, with an early 8:00 a.m. matchup against No. 13 Grand Canyon before finishing things off in Fort Worth against Missouri State at 2:00 p.m.
