HOUSTON – The HCU Huskies women's basketball team is set for a Southland Conference contest against New Orleans on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. inside Sharp Gym as part of a doubleheader with the men playing after.
The Huskies (5-17, 2-11 SLC) and Privateers (2-19, 2-10 SLC) played two weeks ago in New Orleans with UNO earning a 62-55 win. HCU was down just one early in the fourth quarter before the hosts pulled away.
Tiffany Tullis finished that game with a double-double off the bench, putting up 12 points with 10 boards.
Lyric Barr added nine points and seven rebounds while
Amy Cotton had eight points and six rebounds.
Tullis is averaging 7.9 points per game and her 8.7 rebounds per game ranks second in the SLC. The senior is pulling down 7.1 defensive rebounds per game, ranking 23rd in the country.
HCU fell at home to league-leading Southeastern on Thursday while the Privateers dropped a 71-60 matchup to UIW in San Antonio. Junior Jasmine Jones led UNO with 15 points in the loss while Jayla Kimbrough added 14 and Nora Francois scored 13. Francois is the team's leading scorer for the season, averaging 13.6 ppg and is pulling down a team-best 7.4 rpg.
The Huskies are back on the road next week when they head south to take on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Thursday, Feb. 13, at 10:30 a.m. before heading to Edinburg to face UT Rio Grande Valley on Saturday, Feb. 15.
