HOUSTON – The HCU women's basketball team returns to the court this Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. on its home floor inside Sharp Gym as the Huskies host Stephen F. Austin.
 
The Huskies (6-19, 3-13 SLC) and Ladyjacks (22-5, 12-4 SLC) faced each other at the beginning of January with SFA winning, 82-35. HCU struggled to get going offensively as SFA shot a blistering 55.6 percent (20-of-36) from the floor in the first half to build an insurmountable lead.
 
HCU fell on the road this past Saturday, Feb. 15, at UTRGV in an overtime thriller that saw the Vaqueros eke out a 58-55 win. 
Erin Maguire poured in 21 points in the loss, shooting 8-of-17 from the floor, and also had five rebounds with three assists. 
Tiffany Tullis added 10 points and seven rebounds while 
Amy Cotton finished with 10 points and five boards. In two games last week, Maguire averaged 17.5 ppg to raise her season average from 9.0 ppg to 9.7 ppg.
 
SFA comes into the game on an eight-game winning streak, winning a pair of road games at East Texas A&M and Northwestern State last weekend. Junior guard Ashlyn Traylor-Walker scored 26 in the Ladyjacks' 68-66 win at NSU.
 
Faith Blackstone, a senior guard, leads the team this season with 15.3 points per game and is second with 6.1 rebounds per game. She is shooting 50 percent from the floor on the year and 40.2 percent from three. The Ladyjacks are the top three-point shooting team in the Southland and rank ninth nationally with 9.9 made threes per game.
 
The Huskies remain at home to face Lamar on Saturday, Feb. 22, in Sharp Gym at 1:00 p.m. for Senior Day. HCU will recognize its seniors at halftime of the men's game which begins shortly after the women finish up at 3:30 p.m.
