EDINBURG, Texas – On Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. the HCU women's basketball team will aim to sweep its two-game season series against UT Rio Grande Valley inside the UTRGV Fieldhouse.
The Huskies (6-18, 3-12 SLC) dropped game one of their road trip on Thursday, falling to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi by a 74-54 final.
Tiffany Tullis led HCU with a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds with
Erin Maguire scoring 14.
The last time the Huskies and Vaqueros (13-13, 8-7 SLC) met was on Jan. 18 in Sharp Gym. HCU led the majority of the game before falling behind with just a minute to play. The Huskies scored four points on free throws in the final three seconds to secure the win. Tullis scored a team-best 16 points in the win with
Amy Cotton contributing 15 and Maguire scoring 13.
UTRGV has won its last two, including Thursday's 59-37 home victory over UIW. Last Saturday, the Vaqueros knocked off Lamar in Beaumont, 58-56. In the win over the Cardinals, Charlotte O'Keefe posted her 11
th double-double of the year, finishing with 10 points and 14 rebounds. Kade Hackerott led all players with 14 points while Madison Huhn added 12 off the bench.
The Huskies return to Sharp Gym for their final two home games of the year on Thursday, Feb. 20, against Stephen F. Austin at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 22, against Lamar at 1:00 p.m.
